Colombo: According to latest reports, Sri Lanka's defeated Presidential candidate, General Sarath Fonseka, was arrested by the military police. The Sri Lankan government hasn't yet confirmed the arrest, but it was confirmed by Fonseka's office.

According to eye-witness sources, Fonseka was arrested in his office on Monday night. He was reportedly dragged away in a insulting way, which would put the democracy in Sri Lanka to shame. He is now under the custody of the Sri Lankan Army.

General Sarath Fonseka, who played a crucial role in the elimination of the LTTE in Sri Lanka, had quit his job and unsuccessfully contested the Presidential polls against President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Fonseka was arrested on charges of military offences. It was alleged that he was plotting to kill Rajapaksa. He was taken into an unknown destination for questioning.

The General is not guilty of any charges. These are all cooked up stories. He is the rightfully elected President of Sri Lanka and should be allowed to govern this country. This Government is illegal and unwanted.
