Melbourne: According to latest reports, six cricketers of Indian origin, were racially abused and taunted by some Australian cricketers of Thomson Club in Victoria. The victims were playing for the Waurn Ponds Cricket Club. Â The Geelong Cricket Association has launched an investigation, following a formal complaint received from the Waurn Ponds Cricket Club. The local media reports claimed that the cricketers were reduced to tears because of the racial abuse on the field. Â The Thomson Club players continued to abuse the Indian cricketers despite the requests made by umpires and players. The complaint was made against the entire Thomson Club cricket team barring one player - Paul Welsh. Â Meanwhile, Thomson Club President Laurie McGovern categorically denied the allegations and said that they would support the probe. Â |
