Colombo: Breaking News! Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has rejected the plans of UN chief Ban Ki-Moon to ask a panel of experts to look into the alleged human rights abuse in Sri Lanka. Rajapaksa termed the move as "uncalled for" and "unwarranted".

According to Sri Lankan government sources, President Rajapaksa spoke to Ban Ki-Moon over this issue and categorically said that there were no humna rights violation issues during the war with the LTTE rebels.

The UN has reported that more than 7,000 civilians died during the battle between the government forces and LTTE last year. The LTTE was wiped out in that bloody war and Rajapaksa won a second term as the President.
