Melbourne: World No. 1 Roger Federer continued his winning streak, by winning the Australian Open singles title. Federer beat Andy Murray of Britain in straight sets - 6-3, 6-4, 7-6. It was Federer's 4th Australian Open and 16th grand slam title till date.

The grand finale turned out to be a one-man show, as Murray failed to give any challenge to Federer's powerful performance. Only the third set witnessed some tough competition. Federer won the match in two hours and 41 minutes.

At the Australian Open last year, Federer was in tears, after losing to Rafael Nadal in five sets. Nadal crashed out of the tournament, with an injury, while trailing behind Murray in the quarterfinal.
