New Delhi: Indian boxers led by Olympic bronze medalist Vijender Singh won six gold medals at the Commonwealth Boxing Championship. Vijender struck the gold in the 75 kg category. Â Other Indian boxers, who won gold medals were Jai Bhagwan (60 kg), Amandeep Singh (49 kg), Suranjoy Singh (52 kg), Dinesh Kumar (81 kg), and Paramjeet Samota(91+ kg). Â Vijender beat England's Frank Buglioni 12-3 in the final to claim the gold medal. He was ruthless in the semifinal and even injured Tanzania's Selemani Kidunda through a powerful right punch. The bout was stopped by the referee, while Vijender was leading 10-1. |
