Maoists blow up Railway Tracks, Howrah-Delhi Route affected PDF Print E-mail

Ranchi: Maoists continued to attack the Indian Railways during their 72-hour bandh call in Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh. The naxals blew up railway tracks in Bihar Jharkhand, by bringing the train services on the Howrah-Delhi route to a complete halt.

 

In Jharkhand, tracks were blown up in two places in Giridih district - at Parasnath railway station and between Chaudharybandh and Karmabad railway stations.

 

In Bihar, the Maoists struck in Jamui district by blasting a track near Narganjo station. Several trains were either cancelled or delayed because of these blasts. Routes of some of the trains were diverted.

 

The Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, the Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express and the Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express were halted on the way. the routes of Ganga Damodar Mail and Dhanbad Patna Intercity express trains were diverted.

 

The CPI-Maoist organisations have called for a 72-hour bandh, starting from Sunday to protest against the Centre's proposed offensive, 'Operation Green Hunt' against the Maoists.
