Hyderabad (Agencies): In a landmark judgment, the Andhra Pradesh High Court quashed the 4% reservation, meant for minorities (Muslims) in education and the state government jobs in Andhra Pradesh.
However, the High Court ruled that admissions done since 2007 on the basis of the minority quota would remain valid.
The High Court observed that the quota for minorities was unsustainable and could not be implemented. The court order came as a big blow to the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh, which had passed a legislation in 2005 to give 4% quota for certain backward groups in Muslim community. |
