New Delhi: Breaking News! Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, who is considered as the second-in-command after PM Dr. Manmohan Singh, has said that the government will seek a consensus over the Women's Reservation Bill, before tabling it in Lok Sabha. Â The UPA government used Marshals in Rajya Sabha to evict the protesting MPs from RJD, JD-U and Samajwadi Party and passed the bill in the upper house. Â Â However, political parties like BJP, DMK and TMC disapproved this, saying the MPs should not have been evicted from the house in such a "disgraceful" manner. The RJD, JD-U and Samajwadi Party MPs created ruckus in Lok Sabha and did not allow the house to run. Â Finally, Pranab Mukherjee held a meeting with Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, RJD leader Lalu Prasad, JD(U) president Sharad Yadav, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, NCP chief Sharad Pawar and DMK leader T R Baalu over this issue. Â After the meeting, Mr. Mukherjee said that the bill would be brought in Lok Sabha only after consultations with all parties. The Prime Minister is expected to call an all-party meeting to discuss the issue. |
