Rourkela: The Maoists continued to strike hard during their 72-hour bandh call, by blowing up a portion of railway tracks near Rourkela in Orissa. That caused derailment of a goods train. The train services on Howrah-Mumbai route are badly hit.
The incident occurred at a place between Bhalulata and Jareikela, about 30 km from Rourkela in the wee hours on Monday. No casualties or injuries were reported from the derailment of the goods train.
The Maoists had yesterday blown up a railway track in Bihar. The Naxalites have called a 72-hour bandh, starting from Sunday in Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh. They are protesting against the proposed 'Operation Green Hunt' initiated by the Centre against the Maoists. |
