Bhubaneswar: Breaking News! On late Wednesday night, a rumour warning of massive earthquake spread like bush-fire in several areas of Coastal Orissa, forcing people spend the night outside. People were in a state of panic.

Hundreds of people came out of their apartments, houses and buildings during the night hours in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Khurda and Jagatsinghpur. People called up the TV channels and newspaper offices to verify the report.

Many people spend the night outside home because of the earthquake threat. The meteorological department dismissed the reports as rumours.

It seems that a group of people in Coastal Orissa is spreading rumours to create panic among the people. A similar incident occurred a few days ago, when it was said that a new-born child spoke out and asked the mothers to go and burn the diya (lamp) at Shiva Temples to save their children.

Thousands of people thronged to Shiva Temples and sought the blessing from Lord Shiva. Later, it was confirmed that it was a mere rumour.
