NewsRoom: Breaking News! Obese women during pregnancy used to face major health problems as obesity or overweight is a threat to both the mothers and babies, claims the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE).

According to the NICE, rising obesity level in women of childbearing age develops many health problems before and after delivery. It may bring a lot of complications right from the conceiving to child birth.

Although obese women are more likely to give birth healthy babies, but women are at more risk of problems including impaired glucose tolerance, gestational diabetes, miscarriage, pre-eclampsia and maternal death, who have a BMI of over 30.

In order to avoid such complications, NICE suggests obese women to follow certain dietary and exercise guidelines.

According to the experts from NICE, the obese pregnant women should take a balanced diet, fruit and vegetables. They can also have meals with little amount as they are often hungry during pregnancy. However, sugar drinks like coke and fruit juices are strictly avoided.
